Fennel seed

Soft Spices explores the intricate shapes of everyday spices.

A series of spices, reimagined on an enlarged scale in felt, often around 24:1. The work is driven by a fascination with the detailed forms often hidden in these small, familiar objects.

The project explores natural forms; their growth, variation, and repetition. And how they can be translated into patterns and constructed three-dimensional shapes.

It is an ongoing and expanding exploration.

Eventually, the pieces will come together to form a mobile, envisioned as a ‘Constellation of Spices’.
